Antica famiglia, di chiara ed avita virtù, originaria di Todi, e trapiantatasi, nel 1139, in Bevagna, ove cambiò l'antico nome di Candidi in quello di Cianconi e costituì il primo nucleo nobiliare di Bevagna. Ivi, tal casato, si distinse per molti elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali, tra i quali, ricordiamo: il Beato Giacomo, del qu. Giovanni, domenicano, nato in Bevagna, nel 1220; Andrea, fratello del precedente, morto, durante la Battaglia di Gaglioli, contro i Todini, sostenitori di Federico II, nel 1273; altro Giovanni, Patrizio Bevanate, comandante militare, tra i primi cittadini della Provincia che ben meritò questa patria e che raggiunse il culmine della potenza, nel 1285; altro Andrea, nipote del Beato Giacomo, Capitano delle Truppe bevanati nella Guerra contro le Truppe ghibelline di Todi, decapitato il 10 luglio 1311; altro Giovanni, vivente nel 1440 circa, Vicario Generale di Spoleto.
