Antica e nobile famiglia del Trevigiano detta Ciani o Cejani propagata, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Il commendator G.B. di Crollalanza riporta la blasonatura di questa famiglia, nei volumi del suo Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane. Lo stemma della famiglia Ciani è così blasonato: Partito d'azzurro e di verde, al busto con due faccie, muliebre a destra e maschile a sinistra, d'argento attraversante sulla partizione. Molte furono le famiglie venete che ebbero nobiltà, ma di queste una per tutte la menzione sulla sua origine lo storico F. Schroder nel suo " Repertorio genealogico delle famiglie confermate nobili, e dei titolati nobili esistenti nelle provincie venete, contenente anche le notizie storiche sulla loro origine edito in Venezia, tipografia di Alvisopoli nel 1830.
