Fino dal tempo della invasione dei barbari fioriva in Milano la famiglia C., e si diramò in diverse città d'Italia. Dal ramo milanese emersero quattro cardinali, quattro decurioni, alcuni senatori ed altri vicari di provvigione. Motto della famiglia: Ancora spero Altro ramo.
