Dei membri di tale famiglia si dice che alcuni fossero tra gli armati che nell'anno 854 fecero prigione il fratello del Doge di Venezia, desideroso d'impradronirsi di Comacchio; ma, a parte che quel fatto sarebbe avvenuto quasi un trentennio più tardi, e cioè circa nell'881, non è possibile, come ben si comprende, appurare la verità della tradizione. Nella seconda metà del secolo XVII la famiglia fioriva numerosa a Comacchio, divisa in diversi rami. Il più cospicuo d'essi era quello a cui appartenne Cesare di Vespasiano, giureconsulto, dec. 1697 di settant'anni, che, pel modo col quale resse gli uffici al lui affidati, meritò l'onore d'esser detto nel suo epitaffio bono Reièpublicae natus. Da Gaetano, consigliere stabile della Comunità, primo anziano per l'annata, 1° aprile 1772 a 31 marzo 1773, discendono Giuseppe di Vincenzo e i suoi due figli Antonio e Cinzia, iscritti nell'Elenco nobiliare italiano col titolo di nobili di Comacchio.
