Alte und sehr adlige Familie aus Kampanien normannischen Ursprungs, die sich zuerst in Neapel niederließ, wo sie zum Sitz von Porto gehörte, und dann in Caserta und Salerno, wo sie zum Sitz von Campo gehörte. Das Haus lebte sogar in Pozzuoli und Messina vornehm und hat sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte auf der ganzen Welt verbreitet. Der klare Adel des Hauses wird durch das Vorhandensein seines Wappens in dem wertvollen Werk „Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti“ des italienischen Schriftstellers und Heraldikers Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (19. Mai 1819 – März 1892), zwischen 1886 und 1890 in Pisa in drei Bänden erschienen. Nach den Überlieferungen gehörten der Familie die Lehen Aquaro, Montecorvino und San Cipriano sowie die Markgrafschaft Oliveto. Darüber hinaus zeichnete sich diese Familie zu allen Zeiten durch prominente Persönlichkeiten aus, die im öffentlichen Dienst, in den freien Berufen und im Militärdienst geboren
