Antica e nobilissima famiglia campana, di origini normanne, che si stabilì prima a Napoli, dove apparteneva alla sede di Porto, e poi a Caserta e Salerno, dove fece parte della sede di Campo. La Casa ha vissuto nobilmente anche a Pozzuoli ea Messina e si è diffusa, nei secoli, in tutto il mondo. La chiara nobiltà della Casa è confermata dalla presenza del suo blasone nella pregevole opera "Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti" dello scrittore e araldista italiano Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (19 maggio 1819 – 8 marzo 1892), pubblicato a Pisa in tre volumi tra il 1886 e il 1890. Secondo quanto tramandato, la famiglia ha posseduto i feudi di Aquaro, Montecorvino e San Cipriano e il Marchesato di Oliveto. Inoltre, questa famiglia, in tutte le età, si è sempre distinta, grazie alle figure di spicco, che le hanno dato i natali,
