As primeiras lembranças dessa família ilustre remontam a um Antonio, portulano de Salerno no segundo. XIII, e a Pedro, que com outros nobres de Bitonto emprestou dinheiro ao rei Carlos I de Anjou. Feudatório desde o início do século. XV, gozava de nobreza em Bitonto, Cápua, Benevento e Lucera. Em Nápoles, foi inscrita no assento de Portanova, em 1788. Ela usava o vestido de Malta de 1595. Foi decorado pelo rei Carlos de Bourbon com o título de marquês na pessoa de Baldassarre, um título que, concedido a favor de seu sobrinho Carlos, veio deste , com consentimento real, registrado nos feudos de Torrecuso e Torrepalazzo. No título e posse dos feudos, Carlo foi sucedido por seu filho Michele, que morreu em 1804.
