Ancienne et très noble famille de Modène, connue à l'origine sous le nom de Civi, de vertu claire et ancestrale, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie. On pense qu'une de ses branches est arrivée dans le Sud au XVIe siècle, changeant son nom de famille, en raison de phénomènes de phonétique dialectale, jusqu'à l'actuel Civino.
