Família antiga de Rieti, onde por muito tempo desfrutou os primeiros graus naquele judiciário, conhecidos como Clarelli ou Clarella, que se espalharam, no desenrolar dos lustres, em diferentes regiões italianas e européias, com assentamentos mais notáveis na Espanha. A primeira das quais temos algumas informações é um Nicolò, um homem de grande prudência e um capitão de grande valor, que viveu em 1330. Por outro lado, essa família, no desenrolar de seu brilho, sempre conseguiu produzir uma série de homens que tornou seu nome famoso, em empregos públicos, em profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar.
