Originaria de Bérgamo, tomó su nombre de la tierra de Clusone y se trasladó a Verona en el siglo XV. Baldassarre en 1489 fue creado conde por el emperador Federico. En 1510 existe el recuerdo de un Luigi premiado por los venecianos por su lealtad, y una placa sepulcral fechada en 1541 conmemora al noble y valiente capitán y conde Jacopo Clusoni. En 1517 esta casa fue agregada al consejo nobiliario, desde 1647 no se tienen más noticias de la rama original de la familia.
