Originaria di Costantinopoli, questa casata fu portata a Mantova quindi a Venezia Donde diramò nel Reame di Napoli Fu annoverata fra i patrizi alla serrata del maggior consiglio l’anno 1297. Molti uomini illustri emergono da questa famiglia Marco Cocco accompagno in Puglia Ottone figlio dell’imperatore Federico Jacopo canonico di Padova, fu protonotario apostolico e arcivescovo Tra gli attuali rappresentanti di questa casata figura il Prof. Michele Cocco figlio di Felice, fu Pasquale, e di Marta Petruzzelli originaria della provincia di Campobasso. Dalla seconda metà del XX secolo figurano gli attuali rappresentanti di questa casata per titolo di benemerenza e studio, di cui Emanuela Cocco, Laura Cocco e Marco Cocco. Quest’ultimo laureato presso la facoltà di lingue e letterature straniere, specializzato nella lingua e cultura orientale cinese, figlio di Antonio Cocco e Loretta Pelucchi originaria della provincia di Bergamo.
