Die ursprünglich aus Frankreich stammende Adelsfamilie wurde im SM-Malteserorden für Gerechtigkeit aufgenommen. in der Person von Fra Alfonso Codiganc aus Neapel am 8. Mai 1844. Er besaß das Lehen von Belladifesa in den Abruzzen Ultra, von dem Filippo 1771 die letzte Überschrift hatte; und wurde 1850 von großzügigem Adel in der Pruova von Felice Patroni Griffi an R. Bodyguard anerkannt. Die Familie ist im Allgemeinen in der italienischen offiziellen und edlen Liste von 1922 mit dem Titel Noble (mfl) in der Person der Nachkommen des Vorfahren von Bendetto Carcani eingetragen, der 1855 nach R. Bodyguard strebt. Anderer Zweig. Michael Botschafter vieler Herrscher und von Philipp II. Von Spanien sehr akzeptiert.
