Il commendator G.B. di Crollalanza riporta la blasonatura di questa famiglia nei volumi del suo Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane. Altro ramo. Il Codice esistente nella Biblioteca Marciana marcato H, Cl. VII, N.946, dice che questi Codognola erano "ricchi mercanti, signori di civiltà e puntualità", e non lasciavano passare occasione per testimoniare la loro fedeltà e devozione alla Signoria di Venezia. Alessandro e Cristoforo fratelli fecero l'offerta di 100 mille ducati per sopperire ai bisogni del Veneto Governo, e in seguito alla parte ballottata in Senato il 19 giugno 1717 con voti favorevoli 106, contrari 4, non sinceri 5, proposta ed accettata nel Maggior Consiglio il 27 giugno detto anno con voti favorevoli 610, contrari 30, non sinceri 6 furono ascritti alla veneta nobiltà con tutti i loro figli e discendenti legittimi.
