Famiglia originaria del Vercellese che diede vari membri alla magistratura ed alla prelatura. Con RR. LL. PP. 16 luglio 1925 a Paolo, prefetto del Regno, venne concesso il titolo di Nobile. Per il suo matrimonio con Laura de Campredon, conte di Albaretto e Lottulo fu riconosciuto ai suoi discendenti con RR. LL. PP. di Regio Assenso 7 ottobre 1923 il titolo comitale di Albaretto e Lottulo, trasmissibile in linea primogeniale mascolina e in mancanza di maschi alla femmina prossimiore. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere dei cavalieri, esposti alle finestre delle locande in cui questi alloggiavano, in occasione dei tornei, e durante i tornei stessi.
