Antica e nobile famiglia della Sicilia. Il commendator G.B. di Crollalanza riporta la blasonatura di questa famiglia nei volumi del suo Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane. Dice il Galluppi nelle sue opere: Stato presente della nobiltà messinese (1881), stampato in Milano dal Bernardoni nel 1881; Nobiliario della città di Messina, stampato in Napoli nel 1878; L'Armerista Italiano, stampato in Milano nel 1872, della quale riferisce il Galluppi di antica e chiara nobiltà. Il filo genealogico rigorosamente documentato di questa illustre ed antichissima famiglia la quale originaria della Sicilia fa rimontare la sua origine a un personaggio la quale risulta in documenti storici dell'epoca, custoditi negli annali e archivi della medesima città di, ove ella dimorava come riporta il Filiberto o altri storici scrittori e ricercatori.
