Esistette un'antica famiglia, che possedette il feudo Salizio o Salice, dalla quale forse discende l'attuale famiglia di Sant'Agostino. Un Giuseppe, da Palermo, con privilegio 5 maggio 1761, ottenne il titolo di barone di San Vincenzo; un Pietro, pure da Palermo, con privilegio 7 giugno 1793 ebbe il titolo di barone di Sant'Agostino. Nell'Elenco ufficiale nobiliare venne iscritto con il titolo di nobile dei baroni di Sant'Agostino, il signor Pietro Agostino, di Matteo, di Pietro, con il figlio Carlo Emanuele con lo zio Vincenzo e con la figlia di quest'ultimo: Antonia. Con RR. LL. PP. 7 settembre 1901 Carlo Emanuele, predetto, figlio di Pietro Agostino, figlio di Matteo e di Maria Teresa Martinez, ottenne riconoscimento del titolo di barone di Pampinello, per successione a casa Martinez.
