Noblesse militaire, relatée depuis Jean, sgr. dudit lieu près Arlanc, inscrit à l'Armorial de 1450. On croit qu'il était issu d'un puîné de la maison d'Hostun-Claveyson, allié au XVème siècle, à une de Vissac dame de Coisse. Noble homme Claude, ècuyer, seigneur de Pavagnat, de Coisse et en partie de St-Bonnet-le-Bourg, était décédé avant 1492, laissant: Antoine et Jean, sous la tutelle de leur oncle paternel Louis, seigneur de Terreneyre. Louise, épouse de noble Cosme de Vissaguet, vivait en 1520-1528. Guillaume, écuyer, époux de Gabrielle du Bost de Codognat (1540-1560), continua la descendance éteinte avec Anne, dame dudit lieu, marié le 13 juillet 1603, à Jacques de Fay, fils cadet de Jean III de Fay, seigneur de la Tour-Maubourg, St-Quentin, l'Herm, etc. Un grand célérier de l'abbaye de Souvigny en 1551; un abbé de Pramenoux, protonotaire du St-Siège; plusieurs religieux bénédictins et dignitaires de l'abbaye de La Chaise-Dieu; des hommes d'armes depuis 1467; une religieuse noble dans l'abbaye des Chazes (1466).
