Illustrissima casata pugliese, di chiara ed avita virtù, nata dall'unione di due nobili e pregevoli famiglia, Cola e Felice, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. I Cola rifulsero di prestigio e nobiltà sin da tempi molto antichi. Essi sono infatti attestati anteriormente al XVI secolo e vedono la loro culla nella città di Messina, in Sicilia, da donde poi un ramo passò a risiedere in Trani ed è questo quello che ci interessa e che successivamente si unì per via matrimoniale ai nobilissimi marchesi Felice, dando origine ad una nuova illustre stirpe: i Colafelice.
