Antichissima e nobilissima famiglia jesina che ebbe il mome dalla signoria e dai castelli Colleocio. Se ne ha memoria fin dal X secolo in cui un Amigone de Coleocio era un conte di Osimo. Oltre il detto feudo, ebbe anche i castelli di Rovigliano e Crespiero. Potenti signori furono ricercati e si allearono nel sec. XIV ai Malatesta contro papa Innocenzo II. Stabilitisi a Jesi vi occuparono le principali cariche e diedero uomini illustri fra i quali Sante (1343) che compilò gli "Statuti" di Jesi; Francesco condottiero al servizio di Ferdinando d'Aragona re di Napoli, nonchè suo consigliere, governatore di Ascoli e di Nola. Angelo legato in Germania ed Inghilterra, vescovo di Nocera, segretario di Leone X, Clemente VII, Paolo III, e fondatore dell'Accademia Colaziana in Roma. Molti suoi membri vestirono per giustizia l'abito di cavalieri di Malta e di S. Stefano. Nella famiglia C. si estinse la nob.
