No debe haber ninguna duda sobre la identidad de la familia C. Romano di Sicilia con los miembros de la familia de Roma y Nápoles. La Villabianca (Francesco Maria Emanuele y Gaetani, marzo. De Villabianca) en su "Noble Sicilia" en vol. II pag. 203 transcribe a este respecto el siguiente pasaje del libro del abad Domenico De Sanctis (Columnensium Procerum Icones et Memoriae): "Y que los colonnesi de Sicilia, llamaron más antiguos también romanos de los barones de Cesarò, Fiume, Nisi, Monte Albano , de Palizzi y otros feudos son de la misma familia C. nobilissima Romana, y de la misma sangre, y los descendientes lo hacen solemne, y la declaración pública del cardenal Próspero en 1442 a Tomaso C. Romano de los barones de Cesarò declarando ser esta familia de Sicilia es lo mismo que la familia de Roma, por lo tanto, reconocer y llamarlo su pariente Tomaso ".
