Anticamente esistevano varie famiglie tra cui la nobile famiglia della Calabria. Il commendator G.B. di Crollalanza riporta la blasonatura di questa famiglia nei volumi del suo Dizionario storico blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane. Altro ramo. Assai antica e nobile famiglia di Cento propagata, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia ove si leggono alcune variazioni cognominali quali Cominato o Cominati. Il ramo originario risulta estinto. Altra famiglia di Padova. Antonio, musico eccellente, compose e pubblicò per le stampe dal 1600 al 1614 componimenti di sacro argomento. Un ramo della famiglia del Riccio detti già Lotteringhi. Ce ne sono in Napoli, che pretendono d'essere di questa casa.
