Antica ed assai nobile famiglia friulana, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del Mondo. La casata era signora del Castello di Fagagna e pertanto fu anche detta Comini di Fagagna. Quando però, a causa delle rivoluzioni del Friuli, rimase priva del feudo e dei beni, si stabilì in Udine e, nel 1350, fu aggregata a quella cittadinanza. La chiara nobiltà della famiglia è confermata dalla sua presenza nella pregevole opera "Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane estinte e fiorenti", del genealogista Giovan Battista di Crollalanza, pubblicata a Pisa nel 1886 in tre volumi, di oltre 1400 pagine. Altra famiglia. Nobile casato veneziano, riportato sempre dal Crollalanza, che, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscito a produrre una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche e nel servizio militare.
