Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Philippe et Guillaume, croisés en 1248 (Chartes latines de 1191 à 1249 relatives aux croisés, provenant du cabinet Courtois); Jean, écuyer dans une montre reçue au Mans en 1392, Pierre, épouse vers 1400 Françoise de la Roche, trois conseillers au parlement depuis 1653; deux abbés de la Valence au diocèse de Poitiers en 1649 et 1685; deux chevaliers de Malte depuis 1669; un page du Roi en 1731; un abbé de Talmont, au diocèse de Luçon en 1784. La branche aînée fondue dans Bouillé, puis Cervon, et en 1606 dans Quatrebarbes branche de Juvigné fondue en 1760 dans Hardas; la branche de la Vahais, fondue en 1853 dans Chabot de Thénies. A une autre branche de cette maison se rattache un ministre de l'intérieur, anobli sous le titre de comte, en 1822, pair de France et chevalier des ordres du Roi en 1827 mort en 1853.
