Antichissima famglia feudataria del principato di Trento le cui antiche memorie risalgono al XII secolo. L'imperatrice Maria Teresa con diploma dato a Vienna il 26 aprile 1772, confermava ai fratelli Francesco Antonio e Giov. Battista de C. il titolo di barone col predicato di Starkenberg e li elevava al grado di Conti del Sacro Romano Impero coi loro legittimi discendenti di ambo i sessi, confermando pure l'antico stemma. Chiesero la iscrizione nell'Elenco ufficiale coi suddetti titoli: Alberto, di Giov. Battista, di Giuseppe, di Francesco Antonio e di Emilia cont. Alberti spos. Trento, 7 marzo 1893 con Bianca cont. Ceschi a Santa Croce. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Imperio, in quella inondatione de' Barbari, havendo i loro cognomi, sicome gli studi, e altre cose belle smarrito e restati solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, e il loro casato da'

L'aquila bicipite di nero, rostrata ed armata d'oro, linguata di rosso, coronata all'imperiale, diademata su ambo le teste, portante sul petto uno scudo, inquartato: nel primo e quarto d'azzurro a tre fascie d'oro; nel secondo tagliato: a) di rosso al leone d'oro andante sulla partizione, rivoltato e con la coda alzata; b) d'argento a due stelle di rosso poste lungo la partizione e divise da una linea di nero; b) di rosso al leone d'oro, andante sotto la partizione e rivoltato con la coda alzata.
