Sie stammen aus Nizza Marittima und gehen mit den ersten Erinnerungen auf Paolo zurück, den Vater des Anwalts. Bartholomäus, der am 26. Januar 1627 in Nizza geboren wurde. Bartholomäus war der Vater von Alexander, dem Vater von Emanuele Filiberto, dessen Sohn Alexander, der 1794 starb, am 1. März 1776 in die Grafschaft Massoins investiert wurde. Bei seinem Tod war er es nicht von den Kindern die Investitur genommen; Daher gab es bei der Restauration einen langen Streit zwischen ihnen, der durch die Kammererklärung vom 16. Juni 1829 beigelegt wurde, für den der Titel des Grafen dem ältesten Sohn Giuseppe zu verdanken war. Daher ließ die Anerkennung des offiziellen Titels im Jahr 1873 die "de Massoins" nur als Ergänzung zum Nachnamen zu. Graf Giuseppe zeugte Alessandro (1820-1895), Präfekt von Avellino, Cuneo, Mantua, anerkannt mit DM 28. November 1873, und Luigi, Kapitän, eingebürgerter Italiener 1860.
