Antiga família veneziana, de virtude clara e ancestral, que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. A origem dessa cognominação, segundo os genealogistas competentes, deve ser procurada no nome de saudação cristã "Corpus Christi" ou "Corpi Santi". De qualquer forma, essa família, provavelmente, foi admitida às honras e privilégios do cavaleiro, pelo Senado da República Sereníssima de Veneza, em recompensa pelo empreendimento em que um Nicolò Corponi participou, em 1447, realizado repelindo as tropas da Arquiduque da Áustria Sigismondo, além das fronteiras da República. Mas, por outro lado, essa família, em todas as épocas, sempre conseguiu se destacar, graças aos altos personagens a que deu à luz. Entre eles, sem arriscar nada ao valor dos omitidos, lembramos: Giovanni Battista, protomédico da República de Veneza, morando em 1582; Nestore, doutor em "utroque jure", morando em Vicenza, em 1587; Cav. Federico, um dos embaixadores da Sereníssima, no Tribunal
