Família algarvia, descendente, por legítima varonia, de João Fernandes Zuzarte, cavaleiro fidalgo, propietário do ofício de escrivão da Almotaçaria de Tavira, e de sua mulher D. Luísa A., fiha e João Arouca, cavaleiro fidalgo, e de sua mulher D. Maria Álvares. Este João Arouca era filho de Vicente Fernandes, cavaleiro fidalgo, morto pelos mouros em Tànger, e de sua mulher D. Luísa Arouca, quarta neta, por varonia, e João Arouca, escudeiro da C. R. es escrivão da Câmara de Faro. De João Fernandes Zuzarte e de D. Luísa Arouca (acima) foi 3º neto, por legítima varonia, o conselheiro Domingos Corrêa Arouca, fidalgo cavaleiro da C. R. (alvará de 4.12.1834), brigadeiro, gobernador no Ultramar e vogal do Conselho Ultramarino, senador, etc. (1790-1861), casado com D. Maria-Teresa-Augusta de Sousa. Deste casal é 3º neto o actual representante desta familia. Simão de Gusmão Corrêa Arouca, actual representante desta família, licenciado em Ciências Económicas
