Noble and illustrious family from Amalfi, formerly known as "Curriale", whose earliest memories are found in the thirteenth century, when family members result as nobles in Naples, at the seat of Porto, in Salerno, at the the seat of Portaretese and in Sorrento. The branch from Salerno came to Sanseverino, in 1381, as it results from the registers of the grant made by the Prince of Salerno, from the year 1517 to 1540, records that are conserved in R. Archives of Naples. Was from branch of Salerno, Captain Matthew (December 23, 1766 - April 10, 1836), decorated with the title of Baron by King Joachim Murat, on 7th September 1814, and the captain of vacello Joseph, born January 24, 1770 in Salerno, also decorated with the title of Baron, by King Murat, on 1st January 1811.
