Famille très noble et illustre d'Amalfi, anciennement appelée "Curriale", dont les premiers souvenirs certains se retrouvent au XIIIe siècle, ou lorsque les membres de la famille, anciennement Correale, sont nobles à Naples, au siège de Porto ; à Salerne au siège de Portaretese et à Sorrente. La succursale de Salerne s'est déplacée à Sanseverino en 1381 et nous en trouvons des nouvelles dans les registres de concession réalisés par le prince de Salerne, de l'année 1517 à 1540, registres conservés dans les archives R. de Naples. Le capitaine Matteo (né à Salerne le 23 décembre 1766, dernier le 10 avril 1836), décoré du titre de baron par le roi Gioacchino Murat le 7 septembre 1814, appartenait à la branche de Salerne ; et le capitaine de vacello Giuseppe, né à Salerne le 24 janvier 1770, également décoré du titre de baron par le roi Murat le 1er janvier 1811.
