Ancient Sicilian family, whose origins go back to a noble Catalan prosapia, migrated to Sicily with a Palascino Crapanzano, knight under King Manfredi (1250-1266). It enjoyed nobility in Catania, Salemi and Trapani, where it owned the Salina di Reda and the fief Fontanacoperta, and boasts of being among the founders of the noble company of the whites of that city. Under king Charles of Anjou (1266-1285), we remember Antonio Crapanzano, who became governor of Terranova, and Guglielmo, who was a castellan of Marsala.
