Antica ed illustre famiglia di Crema, la quale ebbe per capostipite il nobile Paolo Seghizzi, di Premolo, villaggio della valle Seriana nel Bergamasco, il quale trasferitosi a Crema, e distintosi per copiose ricchezze, nel 1447 sovvenne la città che versava in angustie, provvedendola di viveri, tanto che si meritò il nome di padre della Patria. Pietro, di lui nipote, nel 1520 fu eletto patrizio; Vincenzo, figlio del precedente, cominciò a chiamarsi "de Premoli". Un Paolo Premoli, nel 1567, fu aggregato al Consiglio Generale di Crema e un secondo Vincenzo, di lui figlio, ebbe, nel 1603, la carica di provveditore della città. Giulio, pronipote di Vincenzo, dotto giureconsulto e valente oratore, si adoperò per far fiorire in Crema l'Accademia dei Sospinti, della quale venne eletto principe nel 1636.
