La antigua familia piamontesa, de clara y ancestral virtud, se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. El origen de esta cognominación, según genealogistas autorizados, debe buscarse en el municipio de la provincia de Biella "Crevacuore", el lugar de origen de la familia, sobre la cual tenía el señorío.
