Antica famiglia di Porto S. Giorgio, ma originaria da Venezia; è un ramo della famiglia Trevisan, patrizia veneta. Ebbe origine nelle Marche con un Lorenzo Trevisan, il quale nel 1580 navigando nell'Adriatico per recarsi a Napoli fu costretto dalla tempesta a scendere a Porto S. Giorgio ove fissò la sua dimora. Nella nuova patria per censo divenne uno dei principali e fu munificentissimo edificando chiese ed altri edifici e non tralasciando di dare il massimo impulso al commercio. Sono da ricordare: Lorenzo, che dimorava in Napoli nel 1600, famoso avvocato e prima uditore di mons. Dorini in Spagna, Pietro, che nella guerra tra la repubblica veneta e Genova, per correre in aiuto della vecchia patria, armò a priore spese una nave al comando della quale eroicamente morì. Liberato, figlio del detto Lorenzo, che nel 1674 edificò la chiesa di S. Liberato, donandola e fondandovi benefizi e cappellanie di juspatronato di
