Antica famiglia di origine greca, il cui capotistipite è indicato in un Crisafo. Essa splendette nobile in Messina, e fu padrona di un gran numero di feudi e baronie. Un Giorgio risulta straticò di Messina nel 1179; un Luca nel 1230; un Tommaso nel 1408; un Giovanni nel 1422. Un Nicolò, maggiore spenditore di re Martino, in data 8 aprile 1400 ottenne conferma del feudo di Lando e in data 15 dicembre 1420 ebbe conferma e nuova investitura del feudo di Vigliatore e Cartolano. E' degno di annovero anche un Giovanni che fu milite, maggiordomo e consigliere di re Martino ed il 3 ottobre 1401 ottenne conferma del feudo di Pirago; altro Nicolò, barone di Linguaglossa, fu confrate del grande Spedale di Messina 1542; un Agesilao, barone di Pancaldo, fu tra i fondatori dell?ordine militare della Stella, del quale fu principe nel 1623; un Antonino, fuggito da Messina dopo le
