Alte und sehr edle lombardische Familie, bekannt als Crotti oder Crotta, manchmal aber auch als Grotti oder Grotta umgeschrieben, von klarer und überlieferter Tugend, die sich über die Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens ausbreitete und bedeutende Siedlungen im Piemont und Venetien hatte. Es findet seine erste Wiege in der Gegend von Bergamo und stammt von den edlen lombardischen Arimannen ab, die den Spitznamen „Crotti“ erhielten, weil sie sich als Krieger zu Pferd in der Nähe von Höhlen und Kavernen in verschiedenen Gegenden der Bergamo-Landschaft niederließen und im frühen Mittelalter lebten , sie breiteten sich an verschiedenen Orten in der Lombardei aus, um sie zu erobern und zu besetzen. In Bergamo erinnern wir uns an: Vuifredo und Guglielmo Crotta, Konsuln im Jahr 1162; Federico Crotta, der 1222 vom Bürgermeister der Stadt mit der Erstellung des Grundbuchs von Bergamo und den Dörfern beauftragt wurde; Lancelotto Crotti, Botschafter am Hofe des Kaisers Sigismund
