Famiglia molto antica, originaria di Tortona, dove Nicola Crozza veniva aggregato a quel decurionato in casa Bonvicino, per convocato 1 gennaio 1480. L'aggregazione era rinnovata l'11 gennaio 1777 per Felice e i suoi nipoti Giovanni, Felice, Stefano e Giacomo e per il capitano Pietro ed Enrico, fratelli. Enrico, nato dal dottore in ambe leggi Giovanni C., a Tortona il 30 aprile 1735, sposò pure a Tortona, il 2 febbraio 1766, Laura Massa, il cui padre era stato creato conte del duca di Parma, e ne ebbe larga prole, fra cui Giovanni, Luigi, e Felice, stipiti di altrettante linee tuttavia fiorenti, riconosciute nel 1929, mentre un altro ramo era stato riconosciuto nel 1904 con lo stemma partito di C. e Bonvicino.
