Antica ed assai nobile famiglia siciliana, conosciuta come Curatolo o Curatola, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. La casata ebbe dimora principale in Trapani ed in Monte San Giuliano. Essa, inoltre, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche e nel servizio militare. Fra questi, senza nulla levar al valore degli omessi, contasi: Vincenzo, capitano di giustizia nel 1774/5 in Monte San Giuliano; Casimiro, capitano di giustizia in Monte San Giuliano, nel 1745/6; Melchiorre che, con privilegio del 13 marzo 1783, ottenne il titolo di barone; Giovanni che, con investitura del 12 settembre 1785, ottenne il titolo di marchese della Grantorre; Mariano, il quale fu giurato di Monte San Giuliano nel 1787/8; Antonino, il quale fu giurato di Monte San Giuliano nel 1798/9
