Ancient and noble Jewish family, originally from France but with main branches in Spain and Italy, also active in Jewish life in Amsterdam and Hamburg under the name of Nuñez da Costa. The clear nobility of the House is confirmed by its presence in the work of J.B. Rietstap (12 May 1828–24 December 1891), a Dutch heraldist and genealogist, "The Armorial General", a monumental work that contains the blazons of the coats of arms of more than 130,000 European families and in the "Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispanica - letras A-B-C-CH" by Vicente De Cadenas y Vicent Instituto Salazar y Castro.
