Dans le Val Curone, près des collines qui s'élèvent à droite du ruisseau du même nom et non loin de S. Sebastiano, la ville de Fabbrica, composée de quelques dizaines de maisons, d'un château et d'un peu plus d'une centaine d'âmes, était partie du XIIe siècle du Comité de Tortona et par l'évêque, il a été accordé en seigneurie à une famille Visconti de Tortona, son vassal, qui a pris son nom du lieu. Les papetiers désignent la famille parfois avec le nom de Fabbrica et parfois avec celui de Curone, peut-être pour la distinguer d'un autre noyau résidant dans une localité du même nom près de Montegioco, il est donc à noter que dans la présente exposition les deux dénominations ont comme objet une seule famille. Raimondo di Fabbrica est le premier membre de la famille rapporté par les papetiers : il est témoin avec d'autres seigneurs dans l'acte
