Famiglia antica di Alessandria, dove figura con Nicolino, vivente nel 1450. Suo pronipote Lorenzo, morto nel 1550, decurione alessandrino, fu, con diploma imperiale del marzo 1548, creato nobile del Sacro Romano Impero con conferma dello stemma gentilizio. Ebbe, fra altri figli, Cesare, morto nel 1590, infeudato di Cassine il 24 dicembre 1578, ed investito con titolo marchionale il 26 gennaio 1579. Dal suo matrimonio con Tommasa Guasco procreò Lorenzo (dec. 1627), decurione di Alessandria e colonnello cesareo, padre di Cesare (dec. 1646), avo di Lorenzo (dec. 1661) e bisavolo di altro Lorenzo, che, nato postumo nel 1661, sposava (dote 8 febbraio 1682) Vittoria Ghilini di Giacomo Ottaviano, a quale veniva investita l'8 marzo 1723 del feudo di Quargnento col titolo comitale.
