Ancienne famille de Campanie qui, selon ce qui nous est transmis, descend de la très noble et ancienne famille espagnole d'Alba de Tormes, originaire du royaume de Castille, dont les souvenirs remontent au XIVe siècle et qui était l'un des le plus important de l'histoire politique et culturelle de l'Espagne. Son nom dérive du duché d'Alba de Tormes, un titre noble accordé au capitaine de l'armée de Castille don García Álvarez de Toledo y Carrillo, par Juan II de Castilla, en 1438, et confirmé par Henri IV, en 1472. Traditionnellement , l'héritier du duché d'Albe de Tormes détient le duché de Huéscar. Parmi ses ancêtres les plus illustres, il y a certainement le troisième duc d'Albe, qui fut vice-roi de Naples, en 1556, et gouverneur général des Flandres, entre 1567 et 1573. Une autre branche. Ancienne et très noble famille piémontaise, avec résidence à Casale, dont les premiers souvenirs remontent
