L'abbé Nadaud, dans le Nobiliaire du Limousin, dit: Jean, seigneur des Farges, eut des lettres d'anoblissement au mois d'avril 1654, dûment vérifiées à Clermont-Ferrand, le 26 novembre du dit an. Il obtint un arrêt du Conseil du 9 mai 1660, sur lequel le brevet de confirmation des dites a été expedié le 18 du même mois. Dans une liste de familles maintenues dans leur noblesse de 1668 à 1669, par Daguesseau, intendant de Limoges figure Dalmas des Farges, qui n'est autre que d'Almais des Farges, ainsi que le faisant remarquer de Chroniqueur du Périgord et du Limousin en 1856, époque où il publiait cette liste. Dans le catalogue des gentilshommes qui ont fait leurs preuves devant les généalogistes du roi pour être admis aux écoles royales au service militaire, se voit, à la date de septembre 1788, Charles, né le 1ère avril 1762, au diocèse de Périgueux.
