Bourgeoisie de Firminy anoblie en mars 1653. Filiation depuis le début du XVIème siècle. Claudine, fille de François seigneur des Bruneaux, juge, capitaine-châtelain de Firminy (1599) et de Claudine Beynod, fut mariée le 6 juillet 1633 à Bermond de Bayle seigneur de Villeneuve. Son frère Gabriel, écuyer, seigneur des Bruneaux, capitaine exempt des gardes du corps du Roi, gentilhomme ordinaire de la chambre, chevalier de Saint-Michel, épousa le 27 janvier 1632 Toussainte de Vinols. Claude-Gabriel écuyer, seigneur des Bruneaux, ayant hérité de la terre de Roche-la Molière, l'échangea avec Madeleine du Peloux, veuve de Gaspard de Caponi-Feugerolles et Pierre-Hector de Charpin comte de Souzy, contre la terre de Saint-Just en Velay (20 août 1683). Nicolas seigneur des Bruneaux et de Saint-Just en Velay, capitaine au régiment de Castelnau, fut convoqué à l'arrière ban de 1689. Il laissa entre autres enfants de Jeanne-Marie Baraille: Jean-Marie seigneur des Bruneaux et de Saint-Just en Velay, marié en 1722 à Marie-Antoniette de Vertamy. Fondue en 1753 dans les de Charpin de Génetines.
