Illustre famiglia forlivese, anticamente chiamata Deddi, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Il primo personaggio di cui si abbia certa menzione è un Niccolò, discendente da quel Francesco che fu architetto della magnifica torre di S. Mercuriale, costruita dal 1777 al 1781. Da lui nacque Deddo, fiorente, nel 1386, marito di Beniamina Dall'Aste, da cui Bartolomeo, che conseguì da Antonio I Ordelaffi molti impieghi militari e nel 1440, fu nominato Castellano di Forlimpopoli. Costui fu padre di Andrea (1456) che per la sua natura pelosa fu soprannominato "l'orso", da cui l'attuale cognominizzazione. Egli si rese molto celebre per avere avuto gran parte nelle lotte politiche della sua patria ed ebbe anche il privilegio che la sua casa venisse dichiarata luogo di franchigia per qualunque delitto. Finì infaustamente di vivere con la demolizione del suo palazzo e la confisca dei beni, per la congiura tramata insieme ai figliuoli
