Ancient and very noble Venetian family, called Bon or Dal Bon, on whose origin there are various hypothetical reconstructions. One of these has it that the Dal Bons came from Bologna and moved to Torcello in the 7th century. It is not improbable that the numerous branches, distinguished by nicknames, actually derived from different nucleuses; for example, in 1381 Alvise dalle Fornase was made noble, who on this occasion assumed the coat of arms and the surname of the Bons. In any case, the family planted its domicile permanently in Venice, under the Doge Orso Badoer and at the lockout of the Great Council of 1297 it was included among the Patricians. It gave the homeland illustrious subjects in arms and dignities: Francesco, first Venetian podestà of Mestre; Antonio († 1508), politician and soldier, mentioned by Guicciardini; Pietro († 1571), soldier, died fighting the Turks; Octavian, politician and patron; Alexander
