Antica e nobile famiglia detta Porto, dal Porto, del Porto etc. E' questa una delle potentissime famiglie che dominarono il Comitato vicentino come Vicecomites del Vescovo. Possedette i castelli di Vivaro e di Valvegna da antichissimo tempo. Si ha memoria del nome e della cospiua posizione della famiglia dal XI secolo e già si sa che nella ripartizione del Comitato al principio del secolo X i Porto erano fra i vassalli più influenti e considerati del Vescovo. Già sotto l'imperatore Enrico V, per i molti servigi resi all'Impero, avevano avuto il privilegio di portare l'aquila imperiale, e Carlo V, confermando il precedente favore imperiale, concesse a questa Casa il titolo di conte palatino e cavaliere aurato, innalzando altresì a contea, con diploma 14 dicembre 1532, la giurisdizione di Vivaro e Valvegna che, come fu detto, tenevano in qualità di Vicecomites. Tali titoli furono confermati dal Senato Veneto il 26 settembre

Partito; nel 1.° d'azzurro, a due fascie ondate d'argento, accompagnate in punta da due bande d'oro, abbassate sotto una riga dello stesso; col capo d'oro, caricato dell'aquila bicipite di nero, coronata del campo in ambedue le teste; nel 2.° fasciato d'oro e di nero d'otto pezzi, alla corona ducale di verde, posta in banda.
