Apulian family very ancient and illustrious, of its origins there is no certain information, in the memories of times gone by we read some variants of this surname, due to the usual causes of historical phonetics, dialect pronunciation and the way of interpreting surnames in the scripture, it is common opinion that the Dammicco, Damico, D'Amico and Amico are all branches of a single stock and derive from the medieval name Amicus. Worthy of mention are: Ruggiero executioner of Sicily and Calabria in 1239, a Nicoberto knight of Milazzo in 1283; a James general treasurer of the kingdom of Sicily in 14523; an Antonio who with R. privilege 5 March-14 December 1574, obtained the title of royal knight; a Vito, baron of Grano, who, with R. privilege 19 September 1651-29 July 1652, obtained the same title; an Antonio who on 7 August 1759 obtained the title of Marquis for himself
