Ancient and very noble family of the Marche, originally from Ancarano but then passed also to Ascoli Piceno and Fermo, spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. Its clear nobility is testified by its presence in the main heraldic works and in the Italian noble registers. Patrizia di Ascoli and Nobile di Fermo, this family was the birthplace of Filippo De Angelis (1792-1877), created cardinal of SR Chiesa on 8 July 1839 and who later became Archbishop and Prince of Fermo on 27 January 1842. In 1860 , with the annexation of the Marches to the Savoy kingdom, the Piedmontese imprisoned him and took him to Turin, where he remained in prison until 1866.
