Antigua y muy noble familia de las Marcas, originaria de Ancarano pero luego pasó también a Ascoli Piceno y Fermo, repartidas a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. Su clara nobleza está atestiguada por su presencia en las principales obras heráldicas y en los registros nobiliarios italianos. Patrizia di Ascoli y Nobile di Fermo, esta familia fue el lugar de nacimiento de Filippo De Angelis (1792-1877), creado cardenal de SR Chiesa el 8 de julio de 1839 y que más tarde se convirtió en arzobispo y príncipe de Fermo el 27 de enero de 1842. En 1860, con la anexión de las Marcas al reino de Saboya, los piamonteses lo encarcelaron y lo llevaron a Turín, donde permaneció en prisión hasta 1866.
