Le comté de cette famille était l'apanage des puinés de Bretagne, qui possédèrent, tout le duché en 1066, par la mort sans postérité du duc Conan II, frère d'Havoise, épouse de Hoël, comte, mort en 1084. Alain Fergent, fils de précédent, succéda à son père dans le comté de cette famille, et à sa mère dans le duché de Bretagne; il mourut en 1119. A une autre branche se rattachaient: Helgomarch'h, èpoux de Mabille, inhumée à Carnoët, vers 1313, père et mère de Guillaume, lequel servit vaillamment la contesse de Montfort depuis 1342 jusqu'à sa mort; Olivier, capitaine de Lesneven en 1398; Olivier, épouse en 1437 Catherine de Mesnoalet; Olivier, prisonnier des Espagnols à la bataille de Cérignole en 1503. La branche de Kerinou fondue en 1750 dans le Borgue de la Palue; la dernière branche, fondue en 1845 dans Hersart.
